Job Summary:
The Director, Airport Badging and Security is responsible for, directing all security efforts for the Nashville International Airport to ensure compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and requirements, as well as the Airport Security Plan (ASP). Serves as primary Airport Security Coordinator and manages the assigned staff of the airport’s Badging and Identification Office. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Job Duties :
Plans, schedules, and supervises all shift work assignments. Proactively sets goals, directs strategy and projects related to the future of operations in the Badging and Identification Office and in matters related to airport security. Ensures that the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) is on the forefront of technology related to airport security and maximizes available resources for overall efficiency. Keeps abreast of latest trends in airport security and badging, through researching and benchmarking. Serves as the primary Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) and assigns deputy/alternate ASC’s to serve as direct liaisons with TSA. Ensures routine and proactive security-related engagement with signatories, internal/external stakeholders. Serves as the primary liaison between the Badging and Identification Office and MNAA Executive and Senior leadership for all non-public safety security and badging related matters. Directly responsible for all aspects of airport security and proactively works to ensure staff, contractors and visitors are in compliance with the approved Airport Security Plan. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Authority’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching/mentoring staff, planning and directing work, appraising performance and resolving problems. Oversees and directs the Badging Office Supervisor, and supports random inspection efforts to ensure that all Badging and Identification Office and MNAA policies and protocols are being followed and adapts inspections, policies, procedures, and protocols as needed. Ensures all assigned personnel receive and complete training that is required by MNAA, federal, state, and local guidelines. Provides oversight for all security programs and components (cameras, doors and gates), Badging and Identification Office and the interactive employee training center. Encourages, develops, and supports subordinates in meeting leadership and career goals. Provides director-level oversight to the Badging and Identification Office staff who administer processes and procedures to protect badge applicant personal and private information, ensuring proper confidentiality and customer service standards are followed. Directs efforts of the Manager, Airport Security conducts TSA testing in accordance with TSA’s Outcome Focused Compliance (OFC) program, including but not limited to, challenge testing, security contractor tests and access control tests. Implements, maintains, and ensures compliance with the Airport Security Plan (ASP). Updates stakeholders and concessionaires on the plan as needed. Ensures requirements related to Breach of Rules (BOR) and positive Criminal History Records Checks (CHRC) are satisfied within the required timeframe. Follows established processes to approve, revoke, or deny any/all badge applications submitted. Oversees and directs the issuance of any penalties, as required. Manages and ensures staff updates to security threat assessments in the Transportation Security Clearinghouse (TSC) system are made to include creating and resolving tickets. Ensures programs and processes are in place for the inspection of all airport premises for safety and security compliance. Ensures programs and processes are in place for random spot inspections of airport operations to ensure security remains fully intact. Supports both short and long range goals of the Department of Public Safety and MNAA. Develops and supports the planning and execution of departmental general orders andall departmental and Badging Office SOPs. Directs and oversees the coordination of very important people (VIP) details with requesting agencies. Directs and oversees the coordination and scheduling of tenant/airline/concessionaire/business partner meetings to discuss issues, trends, and collaborate amongst various departments. Works with Badging Office Supervisor to review and approve tenant improvement requests for security compliance. Coordinates with Badging Office Supervisor to ensure the work of consultants and contractors engaged to design, develop, and implement airport security programs to ensure technological advances are made to the overall security program. Develops and maintains department budget. Directs, develops and implements capital improvement projects and budgets. Performs detailed record keeping. Performs statistical analysis. Supervises the inspection of department issued equipment. Follows all safety regulations. Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study required or 11-14 years of experience in airport and/or airline operations at a large or medium hub. 7-10 years airport and/or airline operations experience at a medium or large hub
Preferred:
2-4 years airport or airline experience leading a team of 5 or more people. 2-4 years of demonstrated project management experience including the management or projects and/or annual budgets in excess of $1M. 6-8 year of airport or airline experience leading a team of 5 or more people (in lieu of degree) 6-8 years of demonstrated project management experience including the management of projects and/or annual budgets in excess of $1M.
