The OpportunityThe Director of Arena Security is primarilyresponsible for the 24/7 safety and security of FedExForum and thesurrounding property. This position manages, supervises, andcoordinates the day-to-day operations and risk management forsecurity to ensure a safe and friendly environment for our guests,staff, and contractors of FedExForum. This innovative professionalwill have proven experience in guest-facing interactivecommunication skills and be tasked with implementing policies andprocedures that deliver an exceptional safe and friendly guestexperience for diverse groups/clients in professional entertainmentand sports industry.

In This Role You Will Plan, develop and implement programs to ensure the security andsafety of all guests, employees, and performers. Develop an effective strategy to assess and mitigate risk,maintain continuity of operations, and safeguard the facilityincluding staff and guests. Oversee internal and outside security personnel for allbuilding security. Ensure security staff is knowledgeable of post orders, securityprocedures and guidelines regarding all safety and securityincidents in and around the arena. Establish and maintain relationships with local, state, andfederal governmental agencies, law enforcement and fire safetyagencies for the purpose of security and to ensure smooth andeffective day-to-day operations. Maintain relationships with security practitioners across theNBA and other sectors to leverage relevant security innovations andbest practices. Ensure day-to-day operational activities are managedeffectively and meet efficiency and customer satisfactionstandards. Oversee arena CCTV and Access Control daily management,screening operations, radio communications, and other physicalsecurity equipment. Create and maintain security strategies including policies andprocedures with continuous improvement mindset. Oversee incident management system, document incidents, andmaintain timely record keeping for all security documentation,including day-to-day and event operational activities. Oversee internal and external security investigations.

Collaborate with local enforcement agencies. Work with all the Organization’s departments, including theLegal and Human Resources Departments, to ensure that securityincidents and related issues and claims are investigated andresolved without undue disruption of the Organization’s businessand activities, and that all investigations or other activitiesundertaken by the Organization’s security personnel are conductedin a fair and objective manner, consistent with the Organization’scodes of business conduct. Must stay informed of critical events and be able to adjustoperating procedures accordingly. Ensure employees adhere to safety and health policies andprocedures to protect employees against workplace hazards. Conduct briefings with staff and senior management on safetyand security matters as needed. Develop and review emergency response and crisis managementprocedures and conduct periodic training exercises relating to suchprocedures. Maintain a professional, service-oriented relationship withfans/guests attending arena events. Knowledge of alcohol management, crowd management and managingguests in sports and entertainment environments. Establish policies and maintain records related to arena accesscontrols, including the issuance of daily, seasonal, and year-roundcredentials to employees, vendors, and contractors. Develop and manage a budget for the Security Department.

Forecast staffing, equipment, and other costs. Monitorexpenditures. Complete all duties as assigned, on a timely basis, and with ahigh degree of professionalism. Make immediate decisions and communicate with management, firstresponders, venue guests, employers, and performers in the facilityin an emergency situation. Assist the Maintenance Department with Fire & Life Safetyprocedures. Work with Event Department to ensure that each event’s buildingneeds are met and staffed accordingly. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The ExperienceYou Will Bring Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or universityin Business Administration or related field. Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the field of Security,preferably in a multi-purpose arena or similar environment. A minimum of seven (7) years progressive supervisory managementexperience in Security with direct responsibility supervising anddirecting staffs across a wide-range of security operatingfunctions in a changing environment. Must have direct and extensive experience of special eventplanning, threat assessment / risk analysis; operationalcharacteristics, services and activities of live entertainmentsecurity and safety programs; crowd management and controltechniques; principles of budget preparation and control; pertinentFederal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Experience in crisis management, investigation skills, securitytechnology, life safety, risk management, payroll, and schedulingare required. General understanding of other areas of live entertainmentvenue management, including retail operations, building operations,production, building engineering, guest services, parking and food& beverage operations is desired. Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks whileunder tight deadlines and financial constraint. Excellent people skills, with an ability to interacteffectively and in a professional, diplomatic and mature mannerwith internal and external clients and peers at all levels withinan organization and throughout the community. Past professional work experience within a pertinent Federal,State, and local law enforcement capacity is preferred.

Skills &Abilities Highly organized and able to meet tight deadlines and workeffectively in a high-pressure environment while meeting multipleand sometimes conflicting deadlines. Knowledge of and a passion for live entertainment, professionalbasketball, and large-scale events. Highly responsive to emergencies in a fast-paced,time-sensitive environment. Excellent customer service and leadership skills. Ability to lead, give clear, concise direction and provideconstructive feedback. Must be able to provide effective direction to staff inemergency response. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must be detail-oriented and have the ability tomulti-task. Demonstrate confidence and decision-making abilities. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven track record of building high performance.
