Uniformed position at all times. Armed Security Officer’s dutiesinclude being a visible deterrent to criminal activity, providingsecurity for patients, Associates, and visitors, protecting andpatrolling hospital buildings, assets and premises as assigned. TheArmed Security Officer is responsible for responding to allemergency codes, internal/external disaster events as needed and/orrequested, conducting preliminary investigations of reportedincidents, and performing other security related tasks as directedby a security supervisor/and or Manager. The Armed Security Officermust have flexibility in hours and be able to rotate betweenfacilities including travel whenever necessary.

Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Conducts frequent security patrols of the facilities andgrounds as assigned. Identifies and reports trends related to security issues.

Recommends actions. Takes initial information for an incident report, uses propergrammar, spelling, punctuation, notes only the facts, leaving outpersonal opinions and submits report in a timely manner (no laterthan the end of assigned shift). Responds promptly to all service requests relayed bysupervisor, telephone, pass-on, e-mail, radio, cell phone and othercorrespondence in a courteous and expeditious manner. Responds to the collection, inventory and return of lost andfound items, patient valuables, medication, and personal propertyaccording to policy. isdoing business. Controls and enforces facility parking using patrols, violationwarning citations, towing, booting and explanation of rules asapplicable. Assists clinical/non-clinical Associates with combativepatients or visitors. Demonstrates competence to perform assigned client careresponsibilities in a way that meets the age-specific anddevelopmental needs of persons served by the department. Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge in the operation of theAttendant Console, Paging System, security radio/dispatch system,operations of the Digital Video Recorder (NVR) security monitors(CCTV) and the general overhead paging system. Must be proficient with the use of a PC to generate electronicdaily activity security reports, incident reports, emails and otherapplicable electronic correspondence during the performance ofduties. Promotes a safe environment by reporting safety hazardsobserved (broken water/sprinkler lines, burned outinternal/external lighting, smoke/gas odors, tripping hazards,etc.) during the performance of security rounds. Appropriately adapts assigned client assessment, treatmentand/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural,age-specific, and other developmental needs of each personserved. Demonstrated competence with handgun, hand cuffs, baton,non-crisis intervention certification and two-way radios. Frequent exposure to aggressive behavior and emotionallycharged situations. Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions such as fires,chemical spills, and flooding. Frequent exposure to heat and cold from external weatherconditions. Long periods of walking, standing, stooping, and lifting. Must be physically fit and able to walk all areas of thefacilities and grounds, to restrain those who need restraint and beable to assist nursing staff with lifting patients of allsizes. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be always mentally alert. Must have excellent written and verbal communicationskills. Must be able to make immediate decisions regarding laws,policies, and procedures. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize. Must be able to handle personal stress and possibleviolence.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills High School Diploma or its equivalent required. Experience Minimum two (2) years of armed security experience (maysubstituted by Honorable Military Service) preferred. Law enforcement experience preferred. Healthcare security experience preferred. -Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications Active Level 3 Certification (Texas) required. For positions in the state of Texas, an active level threesecurity officer commission with the Texas Department of PublicSafety Private Security Bureau (TDPSPSB) is required. New hires in Texas who have completed the security commissioncourse with (TDPSPSB) must obtain their security commission priorto date of hire. New hires in New Mexico who have completed the New MexicoPrivate Investigations Advisory Board level three trainingrequirements must be eligible to process and obtain their securitycommission prior to date of hire. New hires in Louisiana may not wear their weapon on duty untilthey have completed 40 hours of training, and the

Health Security assigned weapon while on duty to theofficer. Verbal De-escalation training must be completed within 60 daysof hire. Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hirefrom the American Heart Association. Expandable Baton training, defensive tactics training, firearmstraining, weapon qualification, and firearms retention trainingmust be completed prior to letter of authorization to carry isissued. Successful completion of all pre-employment and post offerassessments to include the Minnesota Multiphasic PersonalityInventory -2 (MMPI-2-RF-PCIR); the California PsychologicalInventory (CPI); the Police and Public Safety Selection Report(PPSSR); the Personal Experience Inventory (PEI) and a clinicalinterview by a third personal psychologist. Will be required to take random drug test screening. Valid Drivers’ license required.
