Flex Employee Position Summary:
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of residents, visitors, students, staff, and property & equipment of businesses, construction sites, communities, and schools in the Tampa area. The officer will patrol assigned areas, monitor access points, enforce community rules, and respond to incidents to ensure a safe and peaceful environment. The officer can expect to be a floater or flex employee and be willing to be on-call to provide backup for emergencies, callouts, and urgent needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor entrances, exits, and community common areas to ensure authorized access. Conduct regular patrols (foot and/or vehicle) of assigned properties. Greet residents, visitors, staff, and students professionally and courteously. Enforce business or community rules, parking regulations, and guidelines. Respond to alarms, disturbances, or incidents and complete detailed written reports. Communicate with residents, visitors, staff, and students regarding safety concerns. Maintain a visible and vigilant presence to deter unlawful or disruptive behavior. Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary. Maintain daily activity logs and incident reports. Report maintenance or safety hazards to management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. State-issued security license (Class D as required. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if patrol vehicle use is required). Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred. Strong observational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and be available for emergency coverage.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Work Environment:
