  • Nestled in the heart of South Lake County and just a short drive to Orlando, Minneola is a picturesque community, boasting stunning landscapes and beautifully maintained parks and trails. Minneola’s charm and friendly atmosphere makes this an exceptional destination. This community’s appeal continues to grow as exciting new developments are underway near the AdventHealth Minneola campus.
  • AdventHealth Minneola’s 80-bed hospital will bring inpatient care to the growing population of South Lake County.

Spanning approximately 204,000 square feet, the hospital will include an emergency department; full-service imaging; five operating suites; endoscopy services; outpatient laboratory; heart catheterization labs; critical care and general medical/surgical rooms. We are proud to be delivering clinical solutions for the mind, body and spirit in the Minneola community.

  • The role you’ll contribute:
  • Supervises the daily activities of the assigned area(s), security systems for protection of patients, staff, and facilities and investigates various crimes against the organization, client, visitors or staff.

  • + Aids in development and administration of programs to protect the organization, employee’s, or patient’s property from theft, sabotage, violence, or other situations that endangers the wellbeing of patients, employees, or organization facilities.

+ Monitors electronic security systems, such as closed-circuit surveillance, entry controls, burglar alarms, ultrasonic motion detectors, electric eyes, and outdoor perimeter and microwave alarms. + Notifies management of security weaknesses, and assists in developing procedures for handling, storing, safekeeping, and destroying classified materials. + Oversees the training and development of staff. Coordinates daily staff assignments. + May be required to oversee PBX/ communications. Qualifications

  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Ability to read accurately and comprehend, write clearly, and understand in a manner to effectively complete legal reports, narratives, and follow simple directions.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, penal codes, vehicular codes, radio codes, reports, memos, communications, policies, and other required written materials. Ability to actively listen and communicate effectively through clear speech and hearing

  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and communication devices and perform all aspects of the job safely without imposing risk to self and/or others
  • Computer literacy with ability to use basic hospital/security applications and information management systems
  • Good critical thinking skills, and ability to set and quickly reset priorities
  • Ability to work and train in an environment with occurring periods of crisis and stress
  • Ability to recognize faces
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, visitors and/or employees
  • Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment; ability to work closely with medical and nursing staff to resolve patient-related issues
  • Ability to identify recurring security operation issues, collaborate with leadership to problem solve and develop solutions, and work with the Security Management team on implementation of change
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to diplomatically handle stressful situations
  • Basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Windows, Word and Excel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • High School Grad or Equiv and 3 years experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
  • Associate degree in security or law enforcement, OR
  • Joint Service Transcript, OR
  • Technical college certificate in a criminal justice or related field, OR
  • Three years of experience in healthcare security; OR
  • Five years of general security, military or law enforcement work may substitute for hospital-related experience
PREFERRED
  • Five years of supervisory experience in Security, the military, or law enforcement with heavy customer contact
  • Bachelor’s degree with course work in security, law enforcement, or an equivalent program
  • Five years of continuous security employment
  • Experience with Hospital Incident Command System (HICS)
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety
  • Driver’s License
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION
REQUIRED:
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Supervisor Training certification within
  • six months of hire
  • Valid commissioned security officer’s license issued by appropriate state if applicable OR meets departmental
  • guidelines
  • State issued driver’s license and driving record in accordance with hospital policy
PREFERRED
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training certificates
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
FEMA ICS-300

certification

  • Conducted Electrical Weapon if applicable to facility
  • Handcuffing, or equitable national certification
  • Pepper Spray, or equitable national certification
  • Baton, or equitable national certification
  • Verbal de-escalation training
