JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL
To provide after-hour security for district facilities by communication between alarm monitoring personnel and local police and fire departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or approved equivalency diploma. Minimum of one (1) year experience in security work or combination of work and training. Eligible to obtain Class D Security License within 12 months of employment. Valid Florida Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of local police departments and procedures. Knowledge of fire alarm systems, security systems, control panels and reset devices. Ability to make accurate security reports. Knowledge of school locations, layouts and facilities. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Patrol facilities and grounds after custodial staff has left in evenings and weekends. Respond to any and all security irregularities and correct the problem. Act as keyholder for all schools after hours, weekends, and holidays. Inspect Knox Boxes to ensure building keys are contained inside and function properly. Act as contact point for the school board after hours, weekends, and holidays. Respond to fire alarm activations. Respond to burglar alarm activations. Respond to access and site security issues (opening and closing, locking and unlocking, arming and disarming alarm systems.) Respond to mechanical issues (roof leaks, pipe breaks, air conditioning failures, walk-in coolers and freezers, locksmith issues, etc.) Respond to staff reports of suspicious people, animals and vehicles. Respond to reports of belligerent visitors and trespassers. Patrol for criminal activity and graffiti and report to appropriate agency. Patrol school district sites undergoing construction projects. Plan extra patrols at facilities with high incidence of reports. Call proper department if problem is beyond scope of security officer. Fill out routing sheets as facilities are visited. Fill out Incident Report when required. Fill out work order for next day, if required. Ensure adherence to good safety standards. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Represent the District in a positive and professional manner. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events. Follow federal and state laws as well as School Board policies, rules and regulations. Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
