No chewing gum, smoking, or using your phone while on duty unless it’s an emergency or work-related. 1. Greeting & Customer Interaction Be polite and welcoming to every guest. A simple “Good evening, welcome in,” goes a long way. Use respectful language . Avoid slang, sarcasm, or aggressive tones. Always offer help when appropriate (e.g., directions, helping patrons to their ride if needed). 2. Safety Monitoring Keep a visible but non-intimidating presence . Your role is to deter issues before they happen.
Watch for signs of:
Over-intoxication Aggressive behavior Unsafe activity (fighting, glass breaking, etc.) If you see something concerning, remain calm , assess the situation, and act professionally. 3. Conflict Resolution Use verbal de-escalation techniques first: stay calm, lower your voice, and avoid physical contact unless absolutely necessary. If removal of a guest is needed: Do it firmly but respectfully . Never argue or use force unless there is a clear threat. Ask for support from management or coworkers when needed. 4. Alcohol & ID Checking (If Assigned) Always check IDs carefully at the door
- follow the bar’s age verification policy.
Deny entry if an ID is fake, expired, or the person is visibly intoxicated. Do this professionally and calmly . 5. Communication Stay in contact with other staff (managers, bartenders, servers) using radio or agreed signals. Report any incidents immediately to management and follow up with a written report if required. 6. Confidentiality & Discretion Never gossip or share details about guests, incidents, or bar operations. Handle sensitive situations (e.g., removing someone quietly) with discretion. 7. End of Shift Stay until formally released by a manager. Check in before leaving to ensure there are no final duties. Turn in any reports or found items to management. Important Notes No prior experience is required, but you must be willing to learn quickly and follow all directions from bar management. Training will be provided on basic procedures and expectations. Always prioritize the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all guests while protecting the staff and establishment.
