Armed Security Guard Summary:

Armed Security Guards, in accordance with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services regulations, are dedicated to supporting school-sanctioned activities and actively preventing or mitigating active assailant incidents on school premises. The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of all individuals within the school environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Safeguarding Lives:
Primary Responsibility:

Ensure the safety of all individuals (children and adults) within the assigned school.

Immediate Response:

Trained to immediately respond to and neutralize imminent threats, aiming to stop potential harm.

Security Checks:
Daily Exterior Check:

Conduct a thorough check of the school’s exterior upon arrival to identify any suspicious persons, vehicles, packages, or unattended items.

Risk Assessment Report:

Submit a daily Risk Assessment Report via the Mobile App, promptly notifying Supervisors and Management of any concerns.

Vigilance and Distraction-Free Performance:
Constant Vigilance:

Maintain constant vigilance and avoid distractions while on duty.

Confidentiality:

Do not share assignment details or tactics with anyone other than law enforcement personnel or first responders.

Communication Protocol:
Restricted Use of Devices:

Restrict the use of cellular phones, computers, or iPads to communicate with EGPS Management, Law Enforcement, or School Administrators.

Emergency Procedures:
Family Emergency:

Request a Supervisor’s presence in case of a family emergency, ensuring no abandonment of the assignment without relief.

Medical Emergency:

Notify a supervisor immediately in case of a non-life-threatening medical emergency.

Professional Appearance:
Uniform Standards:

Maintain clean, pressed, and stain-free uniforms, including shirts, pants, and shoes.

Professional Display:

Always display the uniform as befitting a Security Professional.

Firearm Handling and Concealment:
Non-Police Officers:

Armed guards are not police officers and lack arrest powers granted by the State of Florida.

Travel Protocols:

Follow specific protocols for traveling to and from work in uniform, with or without firearms, and during personal business activities.

Concealed Firearm License:
Secure Storage:

Armed guards without a concealed firearm license should secure their duty belt in the trunk or use a gun box for firearm storage.

Age Restrictions:

Individuals under 21 must disarm for personal business; carrying a concealed firearm is a felony of the 3rd degree in Florida.

Note:

EGPS expects strict adherence to all policies, procedures, and state laws to prevent liabilities. Possession of a concealed firearm without a license in Florida is a third-degree felony, as per FSS790.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of required training for Armed Security Guards. Minimum age of 21 years is preferred; adherence to age-related firearm regulations is mandatory.
