ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The duties and responsibilities of a Campus Security and Safety Resource Officer are varied and dynamic. The CSO reports directly to the Director of Campus Security and Safety. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed by other senior school administrators without notice. The Campus Safety & Security Resource Officer will perform a variety of basic and complex duties that require good communication skills, crisis intervention, a patrol of the campus, problem-solving, relationship building, maintaining order, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment, and achieving voluntary student compliance with CDS policies and regulations. The listed duties and responsibilities are not meant to be exhaustive and may be subject to change depending on the situation or needs of CDS. Patrol and monitor the entire school campus during hours determined by the schedule of events and projects. Maintain order, safety, or security. Monitor common areas, walkways, restrooms, and parking lots. Assist in the implementation of quarterly lockdown and evacuation drills. Attend security team meetings. Provide security for sporting events as determined by the Director of Campus Security and Safety. Initiate and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community, including the local police. Prevent illegal parking and loitering on school property according to established procedures. Assist daily with before and after-school traffic. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring a safe and functional school environment. Assist school staff with security issues that may exist or has the potential to develop. Act as a first responder to incidents on campus. Promote respect for people and property. Exemplify Christian behavior and standards of conduct as outlined in the CDS Employee handbook and the Statement of Faith. Possess the ability to relate with Birth through 12th-grade students and their parents.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, this individual must be highly relational and able to perform each essential duty with excellence. Military experience is required with a bachelor’s degree. A combination of experience and education will be considered. Driver’s license required. CPR and First Aid certification are required with the ability to certify staff and students being a plus.
