Security Officer Elbert Memorial Hospital 4 Medical Drive, Elberton, GA 30635 Job Summary Position needed is for every other weekend, day shift. We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, employees, and visitors. This role requires a proactive approach to security, excellent observation skills, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations. Performs security duties to ensure a safe hospital environment and to protect the patients, visitors, and staff of the hospital. Responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer. Performs any other duties as required or assigned. Assesses environment for safety hazards which could harm patients, visitors and/or employees and reports hazards to appropriate supervisor. Handles disruptive individuals firmly but with professional respect and notifies appropriate law enforcement when necessary. Maintains assigned duty station in the Emergency Department each duty day according to policy. Performs regular rounds throughout the hospital each evening, checking interior doors and monitoring for any inappropriate persons in restricted areas. Responds to distress calls from hospital staff, EMS staff, patients or visitors immediately. Assesses the environment for undesirable appearances which would have a negative effect on hospital image and correct such situations. Complete security log sheet at the end of each assigned shift, documenting any significant incidents and observations. Completes all mandatory hospital orientation, education modules when scheduled. Regularly attends departmental meetings. Performs other duties as assigned by department head. Job Requirements High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Trade school beyond high school preferred. Current BLS certification, or obtain within 60 days of employment Knowledge of JCAHO and state regulations for both acute and skilled nursing facilities. Use of mechanic’s tools, both power and hand operated. Familiarity with fire and safety regulations and procedures; building maintenance techniques.
