Security Officer Job Summary:

Security Officers are responsible for patrolling and inspecting Lake Winnepesaukah’s property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, employee/guest injury, illegal activity and/or inappropriate guest/employee activity in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Security Officers will also assist in directing vehicles in parking areas, directing traffic, and assisting guests wherever possible.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide verbal instructions to guests and/or employees in assigned areas of responsibility including patrol areas, parking areas, and security posts. Monitors and responds to inappropriate guest and/or employee behavior, enforces rules and restrictions, regulates guest/employee actions, enforces state and local laws, and requests assistance from the Security Supervisor as needed. Patrol the entire park and additional property looking for any problems, assisting guests in finding or to find lost individuals, and acting as a Security Officer by preventing both property destruction and theft. Assist guests in parking areas by directing traffic on and off the park and directing cars where to park. In addition, Security Officers will assist employees with some vehicle problems. Assist Human Resources with escorting terminated employees/disgruntled guests off the premises. Monitor the entrance and exit of all employees, visitors, and vendors as well as direct them appropriately. Escort all Front Gate Cashiers, Food Associates, and Game Associates as they pick up and drop off money from various locations on the park. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Assist First Aid and Safety as needed. Remain focused on the job while dealing with interruptions from guests and/or other employee contact.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED certificate is preferred. Previous experience in security and/or customer service preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid drivers’ license.

Physical Requirements:

Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting. Able to stand, sit and/or walk for up to sixteen (16) hours. Able to walk quickly to/from job locations up to one (1) mile distance. Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Must have good hearing and visual acuity to observe equipment, guests, etc. Able to read and understand daily checklists. Able to speak to give other employees and guests verbal instructions. Able to work in a considerably noisy environment with equipment and amusement rides. Able to perform work duties outside in varying weather conditions prevalent at the time.

Knowledge, Skills,Abilities:

Able to communicate effectively in a professional manner with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, and Lake Winnepesaukah guests. Able to learn and understand all policies and procedures pertinent to the department and the functions of the job. Able to make quick and effective decisions. Able to follow verbal and written directions. Able to follow safety practices and be safety conscious. Able to interact with guests and employees in a friendly, but firm manner to provide for good guest experience and enforce safety rules. Able to take control of stressful or volatile situations calmly, patiently and in a professional manner. Able to learn and remember all areas of the park. Able to work effectively independently as well as with a group. Able to learn, comprehend, and enforce Lake Winnepesaukah policies and procedures. Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to follow daily operational opening and closing procedures. Able to respond quickly to unusual situations. Able to handle minor complaints and suggestions from guests in a calm and professional manner or seek additional assistance from the supervisor if necessary. Able to write legibly to complete reports.

Safety:

Promote and practice safe work practices at all times. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed. Adhere to company, state and federal safety standards and regulations.
