SECURITY MONITOR NEEDED AT SWAMPSCOTT HIGH SCHOOL BEGINNING AUGUST 2025

AFSCME UNION DUTIES
The security monitor is the first point of contact for all incoming employees, students, and other guests of the high school. Security monitor will rotate the front-desk door duty and monitoring of the halls. Other duties include directing traffic during drop-off and pick-up times, checking student parking permits in the parking lot, and other duties as assigned by the principal.
The ideal candidate will:
Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the high school security philosophy as well as the high school students Serve as the initial point of contact for all visitors and answer their questions Utilize login system to check identification for all visitors and issue ID passes Possess excellent customer service skills Be proficient in word processing and basic Google applications Have the ability to handle multiple tasks and to respond well under pressure Possess a high level of interpersonal skills; generally pleasant demeanor and respectful attitude.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require long periods of sitting; talking or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Security Monitor works a rotating schedule of days and evenings, Monday through Friday, School year only. The day shift is 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and the evening shift is 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
