Job Description
Security Officers Security Department PRN Job Summary:
To perform all duties required of a Security Officer pertaining to the safety and security of all patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Security Officers are required to patrol the entire hospital campus in a professional manner, control traffic in all parking areas, be able to control uncooperative visitors and/or patients, be capable of making accurate written reports of all incidents, direct the landing and launching of Medi-Vac helicopters, be proficient with your state certified weapon, and perform any other duties under the direction of the manager.
Education:
A high school diploma or GED is required. College or vocational training preferred.
Certification/Licensure Requirements:
A condition of employment, all officers must be Mississippi State certified with their hospital-approved weapons annually.
Experience:
Law enforcement and/or military experience required.
Language/Communication Skills:
English required. Multilingual capabilities enhance the ability to perform this job. Must have the ability to speak effectively and professionally to all staff, management, and all outside individuals at all levels from elementary to professional. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations of patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
