Security Civilian – Part-Time/Hourly 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Newton, NC Position Description Are you a self-motivated team player, who enjoys working with people, can be flexible, and multi-task? The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting for an hourly/part-time Security Civilian to work at the Catawba County Justice Center security stations. In this position, you will provide front line security in a non-sworn capacity. This position entails good communication skills with the public, basic knowledge of technology, ability to maintain composure during busy situations, and helping deter contraband from entering the Courthouse or Detention Facility. This position is a part-time hourly position, with no benefits, working on an as-needed basis with an average of 19 hours per week. (Some weeks could be more, and some weeks could be less.) Responsibilities Provide front desk security of the Catawba County Justice Center, assigned as needed to the Courthouse or Detention Facility Interact with all civilians in a professional manner Operate and have a strong knowledge of all security machines Work alongside Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputies in confiscating, deterring, and intercepting contraband that may appear Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent 18+

Disqualifiers:

Any Felony Conviction Pending criminal charges Any crime for which the conviction could have been punishment of more than two years of incarceration. Involvement in the unlawful sale of any controlled substances (illegal drugs) which lead to an arrest and conviction. Unless medically prescribed, use of any drug scheduled in the Controlled Substance Act of North Carolina (Schedule I-V) within the past ten (10) years immediately preceding the date of application. Distribution, possession or use of Marijuana or a derivative thereof within the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the date of application. Conviction in any jurisdiction of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol within the seven (7) years immediately preceding the date of application. Refusal to take the Blood or Breath Test as required by the implied consent law of any jurisdiction. Conviction of Eluding Police, Hit and Run, Vehicle Speed Competition or Death by Motor Vehicle. The suspension or revocation of driving privileges in any jurisdiction within the past five (5) years for any reason other than failure to pay fines and costs.
