- $37,697 FLSA Status Non Exempt Division Academic Affairs Department Library (Adm) Work Unit Library Work Schedule 9:00 AM to 5:00PM Monday to Friday.
Floating schedule as needed with rotating days off. Weekend hours required. Individual is expected to answer calls and resolve questions/issues raised by security and library staff during unscheduled hours. This individual is designated as a mandatory employee and when contacted to report to work, the individual is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dedicated by adverse weather conditions or other extenuating circumstances. Primary Purpose of Position The Assistant Security Coordinator works closely with the Library Security Coordinator to manage the various components of the library’s security program. The program encompasses the library’s security guards, video surveillance equipment, card access, and intrusion alarms. This position provides daily building patrol services for the library. Serves as responder for building fire alarms, facilities disasters & medical emergencies. The Assistant Security Supervisor reports directly to the Security Supervisor and serves as primary liaison between professional staff and Security Guard staff.
Minimum Education/Experience Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work. May require valid N.C. driver’s license.

Essential Job Duties Serves as a service point contact between Library staff and the security team. Works under the direction of the Library Security Director to assist in the operation of the various components of the library’s security program. Encompasses the library’s security personnel, video surveillance equipment, card access, and intrusion alarms. Patrols the building daily to support the Building Operations team in identifying issues. Serves as responder for building fire alarms, facilities disasters & medical emergencies. Assists in scheduling Temporary Library Security Officers. Serves as liaison to Campus Police and administration duties of the library’s Security Office. Must have the ability to meet and communicate with students, faculty, staff, and the public in a courteous, tactful and effective manner. Must be able to effectively communicate university and library expectations to these populations in order to encourage compliance with guidelines, policies, and standards. Other Work Responsibilities Computer skills required include word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs, and ability to learn new applications. This position involves walking and climbing stairs. Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education 5 years of law enforcement or security related experience and/or has completed Basic Law Enforcement training or an equivalent training experience. Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently are essential; also be a vital team player. Experience with and ability to utilize de-escalation skills. Experience with incident reporting and documentation. Previous administrative clerical experience preferred. Experience and ability to multi-task and work. Experience with chain of command Experience with Customer Service. Strong attention to details. Necessary Licenses or Certifications May require valid N.C. driver’s license. Work Location J.
