Waypoint’s Young Adult Emergency Shelter is a lifeline for 18‑to‑24‑year‑olds experiencing housing instability. As our Overnight Shelter Supervisor, you’ll make sure that lifeline is always secure, welcoming, and trauma‑informed—every single night. Why this role matters Immediate impact. You’ll create an emotionally and physically safe space that lets young adults breathe, rest, and regroup. Operational leadership . From staff schedules to safety protocols, you’ll keep the shelter running smoothly so youth can focus on what’s next, not what’s wrong. Culture of dignity . Low‑barrier access + clear, respectful boundaries = the foundation for trust and transformation. What you’ll do Run the house . Oversee nightly operations, maintain documentation, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during second‑shift hours (evenings/overnights; flexible schedule available). Build and lead a compassionate team . Hire, train, coach, and conduct monthly meetings that strengthen skills, cohesion, and two‑way communication with shelter stayers. Champion safety . Enforce policies that protect youth and staff while keeping the environment low‑threshold and welcoming. Model best practice . Promote harm reduction, de‑escalation, and trauma‑informed care every shift. Collaborate for solutions . Partner with outreach, mental‑health, and substance‑use specialists to connect young adults with the services they choose. What you bring Bachelor’s in a human‑services field (or equivalent relevant experience). 1-2 years of supervisory or program leadership—lived experience is valued. Familiarity with vulnerable populations, outreach, sexual & mental health, or substance use is a decided plus. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance meeting 50k/100k minimums.
