Steel Valley School District Job Summary :

The Head of Security is responsible for implementing and overseeing security policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors within the school district. This role involves managing security personnel, coordinating emergency response plans, and collaborating with local law enforcement agencies to maintain a secure school environment.

Additional Details:

This is an 11-month position (Head of Security will be off for the month of July) This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package (if benefits are not desired, this position can receive an opt-out payment) This position will receive an additional hourly wage to support events and school activities outside of position hours. This position has a generous PTO package

Prerequisites :

Must have experience managing personnel

Key Responsibilities :

Security Operations & Management Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols across the district. Oversee and manage all security personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and approval of time Conduct risk assessments and security audits for school buildings, events, and transportation. Monitor and manage security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and emergency notification systems. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with district leadership, school administrators, and local law enforcement agencies to enhance school security. Provide security-related training to faculty, staff, and students. Investigate security incidents and provide reports to district leadership. Policy Development & Compliance Stay updated on best practices in school security and recommend policy updates as needed. Ensure security operations align with district policies, legal requirements, and community expectations. Maintain detailed records of incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.
