JOB DESCRIPTION GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of clerical, minor security and police-related duties at the Police Complaint Desk and/or Staff Review.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Police Platoon Lieutenant and/or Sergeant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Answers Police Complaint Desk telephones. Takes verbal and written complaints from the public. Maintains radio contact to obtain and transmit information for Police Officers. Operates computer terminal for warrant checks, subject inquiries, preparing arrest warrants, and other related duties. Completes a variety of police reports including vandalism, theft, assault, stolen car and missing person reports. Maintains a verity of files, including stolen vehicle, vehicle in custody, warrant, vigilance, and protection from abuse files. Prepares the Sergeant’s daily log. Issues various permits, releases, passes to citizens. Maintains supply orders for desk area Performs related work as may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to understand and follow complex, oral, handwritten, and typed instructions. Knowledge and ability to effectively use a calculator, computer and other office equipment. Knowledge of business English, spelling and grammar. Ability to express ideas and information clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to produce thorough and accurate work. Ability to readily absorb the knowledge of appropriate Department/City/State/Federal Laws governing the release of police information. Ability to work within restrictions and governing release of sensitive, confidential, juvenile or investigative information and understand civil/criminal liability for violations Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Requires intensive daily use of personal computer and mainframe computer.
