None Position Summary:
As an Unarmed School Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and school premises. You’ll monitor and patrol designated areas, respond to incidents, and enforce school policies to maintain a safe environment. Education /
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security or law enforcement preferred Knowledge / Skills /
Abilities:
1. Proven experience in security, preferably in an educational or similar setting. 2. Excellent observation and communication skills. 3. Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and handle challenging situations professionally. 4. Understanding of relevant laws and regulations related to school security. 5. Physical fitness to perform regular patrols and respond to emergencies as needed. 6. Knowledge of basic first aid, CPR and safety practices. Essential Functions / Duties /
Responsibilities:
1. Patrol school grounds and premises to deter and detect unauthorized individuals or suspicious activities. 2. Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms (eg: Vape Detectors & Door Alarms), reporting any unusual incidents promptly. 3. Respond promptly to emergencies, such as medical situations or conflicts, and take appropriate action. 4. Maintain a visible and approachable presence to foster a sense of security within the school community. 5. Contributes to the development and maintenance of an environment that is non threatening, safe, nurturing, and where students feel respected, accepted, and welcome. 6. Collaborate with school administration, staff, and local authorities to address security concerns effectively. 7. Assist in implementing and enforcing school safety policies and procedures. 8. Conduct routine inspections to identify security risks and hazards, reporting and addressing them accordingly. 9. Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines. 10. Prevent illegal parking, tampering with vehicles and loitering in school parking lots according to established procedures; assist with traffic and crowd control at special events as assigned. 11. Performs other duties as needed or requested by administration.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities. 2. Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings and office areas. 3. Ability to travel to and from assigned work locations without employer support. 4.
