THE POSITION

Norristown State Hospital is seeking friendly and energetic Forensic Security Employee Trainees to support mentally ill patients who have varying degrees of emotional and physical disabilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Forensic Security Employee Trainee, you will learn to provide care and treatment services to mentally ill patients referred by the criminal justice system. You will participate in a full-time training program that includes formal instruction and close supervision. Our training program will teach you to provide daily routine care for patients while maintaining a safe, secure environment. You will assist patients in accomplishing day-to-day living activities, provide assistance based on individual patient needs, and actively engage patients in a therapeutic manner. Your work will take place within the secure Regional Forensic Psychiatric Center. The first eight weeks of classroom training will be on day shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Following the classroom training, you will be assigned to one of two shifts with a requirement to work every other weekend. You must be able to rotate between the 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shift and the 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift for the one-year training period. You will be assigned to each shift for four consecutive months before rotating to the other shift. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week You will work a rotating schedule with a 30-minute lunch and every other weekend off. 1st shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM 2nd shift: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM Overtime will be required in this position. Free parking!

You will not have the option to telework in this position

Salary:

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,588 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Completion of the tenth school grade; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
