ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Monitors assigned area; reports suspicious activities to local authorities. Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property, and monitors crowds. Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency. After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure. Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property. Reasonably detains persons suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives. Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises. Adheres to company policies and procedures, standards and practices, regulatory compliance, and company directives including dress code and attendance

Experience and Qualifications:

Must possess a Concealed Weapons Permit at time of hire. Must possess valid driver’s license. Must have passed SLED background investigation. Must be able to obtain SLED Primary Basic, Primary Plus and Primary Armed security officer registration within 30 days of hire. High School diploma or GED preferred. Previous verified successful security experience required. Current C.P.R. and First Aid Certification or must be able to obtain it within 30 days. Current driver’s license with clean record. Adheres to company policies and procedures, standards and practices, regulatory compliance, and company directives including dress code and attendance

Physical Requirements:

Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly. Physically able to capture and detain individuals if necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time. Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct safety inspections. The nature of the work requires some sustained physical effort involving considerable standing and walking for extended periods of time. This position requires standing for long periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift) and the ability to wear a radio earpiece at normal volume setting. Must be able to respond quickly in the event of an emergency. Requires the ability to ascend and descend stairs to complete patrols. Manual dexterity is needed to open doors and write reports. Security personnel may be assigned to any shift. May be assigned outdoors and construction posts which may include inclement weather, dust, dirt and noise. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary or medium duty work; must be able to remain on feet for a minimum of eight hours at a time with scheduled breaks. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, walk, and run.
