Full Job Description Position Summary:

The Overnight Watchman is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and the facility during overnight hours. This role involves making regular rounds, monitoring for unusual activity or emergencies, responding to incidents, and documenting any issues that arise. The watchman plays a vital part in maintaining a supportive and stable environment for individuals in recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct routine rounds of the facility, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure safety and security. Monitor residents’ behavior and activity to ensure compliance with facility rules and to identify potential issues. Respond promptly and appropriately to any emergencies, disturbances, or unusual activity. Check doors, windows, and entryways to ensure they are secured. Maintain detailed and accurate written reports of nightly activity, incidents, and observations. Communicate with on-call staff or emergency services when necessary. Support a calm and respectful environment consistent with the center’s recovery mission. Perform light housekeeping or facility maintenance tasks as assigned during shift. Follow all facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in security, night watch, or healthcare/residential setting preferred. Ability to stay alert and awake during overnight hours. Strong observation and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Working Conditions:

Overnight shifts, typically 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM (hours may vary). Primarily a low-activity role, but may require walking, standing, and responding to incidents. Quiet environment, but must be prepared for emergency situations.
