Position Summary:

Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Enforces law, arrests, and prosecutes criminal activity when necessary.

Diligent in learning protocols, rules, policies and procedures that establishes the accountability of a security officer.
Ability to meet physical and medical standards necessary for the performance of assigned task and the courage to act.

Experience in

Conflict Management:

Monitors and anticipates potential safety and security issues and engages conflict resolution techniques to defuse situations before they become critical.

Calm demeanor during emergency situations and or disturbances while respecting their opinions.

Job duties include:
Investigates thefts, incidents and accidents which relate to the Medical Center.
Directs traffic and assists motorists on Medical Center properties. Issues traffic citations relating to Medical Center.
Dispatches and communicates by radio, telephone and in person with other officers, employees, staff, patients and visitors; maintains security log, monitors cameras and alarms.
Acts as first responder in case of fire, traffic accidents, hazards on campus and medical emergency.
Assists with securing mental patients, unruly or intoxicated persons and transports them to the referred agency as needed or directed.
Enforces policies and regulations as they pertain to parking of visitors and employees and applicable state and local laws.
Patrols and secures all buildings, property and vehicles which are here at the Medical Center.
Responds to fire and security alarms and takes appropriate action.

Position Qualification:

High School diploma, training from an accredited law enforcement academy or law enforcement experience.
POST certification preferred.
Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence.
Active TN Driver’s License.
Armed Security License obtained from TN Department of Commerce and Insurance preferred. Must be eligible for Special Deputy through Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
