Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools (www.freedomprep.org) is a network of PreK-12 free public charter schools serving students in Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL. PLEASE NOTE
This positions start date will be July 14, 2025 The School Safety Officer will report to the Special Projects Manager over safety/security. Responsibilities of the School Safety Officer will include, but are not limited to: Provide security and surveillance to the school campus, including patrolling parking lots and school grounds. Provide security to school and network functions, including some afterschool and extracurricular activities when needed. Investigates, monitors, and reports to administration, when appropriate, law enforcement, suspicious activity, including but not limited to theft, vandalism, and criminal mischief. Communicates with the SPM & Dean of Operations, regarding security-related concerns and issues; works cooperatively with local law enforcement and other network personnel. Monitors students within a variety of environments for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students and school personnel. Builds and maintains positive professional relationships with students and school personnel as a key member of the operations team. Deescalates confrontations between students, parents, visitors, and community members while on campus. Works to assist the school administration in the investigation of incidents, as deemed necessary by the DOO. Assist with school safety drills under the direction of the administration. Assist with parent pick up and drop off as directed by the administration. Be at least 21 years of age for registration as an armed security guard. Be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien. Be of good moral character.
