Off Days to rotate. Position Summary The incumbent provides security for SCO employees, students, facilities and visitors. Essential Functions Patrols assigned locations in order to prevent unauthorized/illegal removal of assets. Identifies unauthorized persons found on property for the purpose of preventing unauthorized/illegal activities. Acts as a customer service representative by providing information and responses to inquiries both in person and on the phone, including problem-solving as needed. Aids those entering facilities that need assistance. Monitors campus via surveillance equipment. Maintains constant alert for hazards or incidents and takes action to correct related problems. Responds to emergency/non-emergency situations in a timely manner. Requests other services as needed, i.e., police, fire department, ambulance, towing service, etc. Performs clerical duties including writing detailed comprehensive reports, i.e., incidents, accidents, and memos, investigative reports, and work orders. Writes citations for violations of parking regulations. Advises the appropriate management of matters requiring investigation and assists in the investigation of security complaints. Coordinates lost and found, and maintains related reports. Assists in the completion of investigation reports for conformity and content and takes action as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

One (1) or more years’ security or related experience.

Special Skills/ Certifications:

Must be licensed as a non-commissioned, unarmed officer for the state of Tennessee or be able to obtain an approved license after employment in accordance with TN state law. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to maintain alertness, courtesy, professionalism, tact and promote a positive image to the public, students and SCO faculty and staff. Ability to read, comprehend and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to make decisions and maintain a mature problem-solving approach while dealing with interpersonal conflict or time demands. Ability to deal with others with courtesy and tact using good verbal communication skills and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Working Conditions/Physical Demands Physical Demands Frequent standing and walking with occasional sitting. Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds. Audible Demands Operation of phone system, verbal communications staff, faculty, students, and visitors, radio communications equipment. Visual Demands Computer use, operation of phone system Environmental Conditions Work may be performed outside with exposure to elements, extreme heat and cold for an entire shift. Hazards Minimal risk of injury or work-related illness. Additional Responsibilities/Considerations Employee must maintain confidentiality of all records, documents and information. Employees may be required to operate office machines, i.e., copier, computer, surveillance equipment, radios The employee may be required to work any post or location at SCO, including but not limited to TEC, Tower or roving patrol. The employee may be required to work any shift based on the business needs of the College. Employee must be licensed in the state of residency and be insured or insurable based on personal driving record. Employee may be required to operate college motorized vehicles. Employee is required to wear company-issued uniforms during working hours.
