Secondary Employment Officer-FSED 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 5150 Airline Road, Arlington, TN 38002 Overview Job Summary Active Commissioned Police Officer, Sheriff Deputy, or State Trooper in state where work is being performed, will perform all necessary functions to ensure a safe and secure environment for Baptist Memorial Hospital (BMH) patients, visitors and staff, their property and Baptist Memorial Hospital property by enforcing established Baptist Memorial Hospital and Security Department policies and procedures, and applicable laws of the State where work is being performed. Performs all other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Enforces the BMH security rules, policies, and procedures and enforces Laws of the State where work is being performed as necessary in the support of the mission. Maintains good standings on required certifications and licensures. Demonstrate exemplary interpersonal communication and customer service skills and maintain a professional appearance while serving as ambassadors of the organization Monitors and authorizes entrance and exits of individuals to guard against theft and maintain safety and security of premises. Operates and monitors alarm, security, video management, and access control systems. Patrols on-foot and via company vehicle to further monitor hospital campus. Secures premises by patrolling property, inspecting buildings and access points. Responds to alarms, disturbances, unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force up to following established protocols. Documents occurrences and related acts as such incidents occur to maintain the security of BMH. Performs escorts to staff as required within policy guidance. Maintaining a detailed log of all activities. Maintains satisfactory disciplinary record with current employing law enforcement agency Specifications Experience Minimum Required Currently Employed /Active (2) years Commissioned Police Officer, Sheriff’s Deputy, or State Trooper – Required Preferred/Desired Education Minimum Required High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. Completion of Certified Law Enforcement Training Academy – Required. Preferred/Desired College level course in Criminal Justice. Training Minimum Required OC or Pepper Spray, Baton Certification. Possess or have the ability to obtain CPR/BLS/De-escalation certification within 14 days of hire. Preferred/Desired Completion of CIT training and taser certification. Special Skills Minimum Required Knowledge of security and criminal investigation methods. Ability to exhibit appropriate behavior when greeting and assisting members of the public. Ability to maintain working relationship with co-workers. Ability to carry out assigned duties. Ability to communicate effectively and verbally deescalate patients, staff and visitors when necessary. Ability to organize multiple tasks and maintain control of workflow. Ability to understand and prepare written materials at a moderate level, such as Incident Reports. Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment. Preferred/Desired Licensure Minimum Required License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State where work is performed): Driver’s License Required.
