ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties nay be assigned. Stands or sits at a post position and provides security for city of Lebanon offices, meetings, and personnel. Complies with City Hall security policies and procedures. Operates security screening equipment. Patrols city of Lebanon owned property within the City of Lebanon as needed. Documents security related findings and reports them to the Chief of Police. Operates and maintains security equipment. Operates Security patrol vehicle. Maintains qualifications with a handgun, and other issued less lethal equipment. Reports violations of the laws of Tennessee and of the Ordinances of the City of Lebanon. Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked. Required to complete training to become a state of Tennessee certified Armed Security Guard.
ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Speaks to community groups on methods of crime prevention. Assists other departmental staff as directed by supervisor.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Knowledge of effective methods of facilities security and security related investigations. Knowledge of geographic area of the city. Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and to determine proper course of action. Ability to ascertain facts by personal contacts, observation, and the examination of records. Ability to explain and interpret pertinent provisions of laws, ordinances, and regulations. Ability to enforce security rules firmly, tactfully, and with respect for the rights of others. Ability to operate all equipment required in the performance of required duties. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certification or Licenses Required:
Must possess a Valid Tennessee Armed Security Guard license or ability to obtain required license within 90 days of hire.
Education:
H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
Age:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Driver’s License:
Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License and clear driving record.
WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS
Must meet all requirements pursuant to TCA 62-35-115, Qualifications for Armed Security Guards. Must be able to obtain and maintain a State of Tennessee Armed Security Guard License Must meet all requirements to be authorized to carry a firearm. Must be a citizen of the United States or a Resident Alien. Must not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor involving “moral turpitude” as the term is defined by law and not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable conditions from any of the armed forces of the United States. Successful completion of a physical examination by a licensed physician. Have good moral character. Be free from all apparent mental disorders as described in the Diagnosis and Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association and be certified as meeting these criteria by a qualified professional in the psychiatric and psychological fields. Must be able to wear 15-25 pounds of equipment for an entire shift and perform required job duties with such equipment on person; must be able to hold in position firearms, and at the same time, safely manage the recoil produced by the firearm; must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and move or drag heavy (over 100 lbs.) objects, such as equipment and road debris, and lift, carry and drag to assist in emergency treatment of victims and suspects; must be able to extract victims from automobiles and buildings; must have sufficient overall strength to defend self or others from physical attack, and sufficient strength to restrain violators; must be able to transfer equipment from station to vehicle, to carry equipment or other objects as needed, such as evidence or found property.
