DESCRIPTION
The Digital Surveillance Officer is responsible for monitoring surveillance cameras that will assist the agency members in the course of their duties within the guidelines of the Criminal Code of Georgia, federal statutory law, procedural laws, department directives, standard operating procedures, and county ordinances. In addition, the Digital Surveillance Officer will also work alongside Intelligence Analyst in order to collect and analyze digital evidence regarding criminal activity to assist in investigations and law enforcement operations in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. The Digital Surveillance Officer will report directly to the Intelligence Unit Supervisor, Assistant Intelligence Supervisor, or Senior Intelligence Analyst. Their daily work will include communication with intelligence co-workers, other RCSO personnel, as well as law enforcement representatives from federal, state, and local agencies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Surveillance of live stream and monitoring outgoing incidents via radio. Analyzing footage from current and past incidents Actively communicating with road patrol, special operations, and criminal investigation divisions during significant CFS, operations, SWAT call outs, and investigations Keeping record and storage of digital evidence and dissemination of video surveillance Researching additional software that can enhance the productivity of the unit Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE
Investigating crime trends, patterns, and information via computer systems to aid in deployment of personnel. Accurately documenting incidents and surveillance activity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School Diploma, Trade School or G.E.D.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in digital analysis work in a federal, state, local, tribal, or private sector intelligence or law enforcement entity.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws, penal codes, constitutional guidelines, local ordinances, and departmental rules and regulations, county geographical area, criminal investigation methods, judicial processes and proceedings, computer systems and operation, and methods of interpreting crime data. Proficiency in using software and computer systems such as surveillance software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. Good communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a group setting.
Skills:
Vast knowledge of computer, computer systems, and related equipment.
Certification:
Obtain and maintain GCIC Certification, 28 CFR Part 23 Certification; Civilian Position during employment Some positions may require: May supervise and/or train designated subordinate personnel.
Physical Requirements:
Depending upon area of assignment: Positions in this class typically require: walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, restraining persons and repetitive motions. Work is performed in an office setting, an automobile, and field sites with exposure to noise, diseases, cold and inclement weather that may require the use of protective devices.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
