Temporary, Non-Exempt Location:
Long Island City and throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Crisis Responder is responsible for responding to and de-escalating crisis situations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to and de-escalate crisis situations Attend Crisis Team meetings Attend Incident Review Committee Meetings Enter Incident Reports in Caseworthy Prevent crowds of people from congregating in front of the building Prevent people from smoking in the front of the building. (Guide them to the designated smoking areas) Participate in investigations involving participants Prevent people who are not allowed on the premises from remaining in the building Assist with making sure participants swipe in during meals Assist front desk staff with assuring that participants swipe in and out of the building Assist individuals with disabilities with entering from wheelchair accessible entrance Place 911 calls when necessary Perform other related duties as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency required; some college preferred. Ideal candidate will have some training in the fundamentals of methods of de-escalation. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with client management databased required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of and sensitivity to social issues faced by formerly incarcerated men and women. Experience and/or desire to work with a culturally diverse population in an addiction service setting. Monitor the weapon detection system to ensure safety and compliance, promptly identifying any incidents involving detected weapons. Notify the supervisor immediately of any incidents and communicate with the individual possessing the weapon to address the situation appropriately. Perform other related duties as needed
