Job Description

Security Safeguard 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 1001 North America Way, Miami, FL 33132 The Security Safeguard is responsible for ensuring the safe and secure transportation of vessel crew members, safeguarding personnel and vessels, and supporting day-to-day operations. This role involves driving, coordinating logistics, and performing both administrative and operational tasks. Success in this position requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to dynamic operational needs throughout each shift.

Specific Essential Job Duties:

Provide on-call security and safeguarding for personnel and vessels in assigned port office locations. Make required trips to locations such as airports, hotels, ports, terminals, and U.S. Customs and Border Protections offices to assist with crew arrival and departures and verify necessary documents. Abide by all federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety regulations; ensure safeguarded personnel do the same. Maintain proper communication with vendors, customers, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Provide detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management. Abide by company HSEQ policies & procedures. All other duties as assigned. Position may change as industry and technology evolve.

Qualifications & Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required. Valid State of Florida Class D security license required. Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) is highly preferred and must be obtained upon acceptance of the position or within 30 days of hire. Must be able to successfully pass a Federal and State background screening. Previous security and safeguarding experience required. Previous experience in the maritime agency industry is helpful but not required. First Aid and CPR certification is a plus. Ability to travel between sites as needed. Strong customer service skills with a professional and courteous demeanor. Strong communication skills, with groups and in individual interactions to solve problems. Solid understanding of security protocols and the ability to respond appropriately in high-pressure or emergency situations. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must have reliable transportation. Must have and maintain valid automobile insurance that complies with state regulations. Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays with travel to and from assigned locations.

This position requires the ability to sit comfortably for extended periods of time both during a trip and on standby awaiting passengers. Additionally, there will be some bending/stooping, lifting, walking, standing, and carrying of transport items such as luggage, clothing, boxes, and personal effects of the passengers up to 50 pounds. This position works outside in both hot and cold temperatures as well as in a general office setting. The duties performed in this position may expose the employee to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially hazardous equipment. On-hire times can vary greatly and are dependent on several external factors including the arrival and departure of vessels, airplanes, and ferries, therefore the employee will need to be able to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate passenger needs and demand. This can include early morning and late evening requirements. Long hours, ability to travel, weekend duties and 24-hour “on-call” status are essential job requirements. Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health. The employee will be required to make numerous trips to various locations, handle any issues relevant to the efficient arrival and departure of passengers.
