This position is responsible for the routine inspection and testing of both fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. The inspector will perform thorough documentation of the systems and components being inspected and tested and will properly perform those activities in compliance with applicable codes and manufacturer standards while identifying any deficiencies or impairments.
Job Duties:
Perform Inspection and Testing for fire alarm systems inclusive of control panels, power supplies, interfaced equipment, initiating devices, notification devices, on site documentation, sequence of operation, and communication systems. Perform Inspection and Testing for fire sprinkler system inclusive of piping, sprinklers, supports, pumps, backflows, fire service mains, valves, alarm devices, and other attached components. Ability to use basic hand tools for the purpose of operating certain equipment for testing purposes. Identify any deficiencies to the systems or components and properly document and communicate urgent items. Ability to communicate with customers to gain access to components or describe system deficiencies Perform thorough documentation of all inspection and test results Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on requirements and general status of job
Required Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma or GED Proficient in the use of computers and smart phones, specifically Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple iOS, and Google Android Strong verbal and written communications skills required Organized, motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision Valid driver’s license with good driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with NFPA 72 and NFPA 25 Backflow Testing Certified State of Florida Water-Based Permit a plus NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based System or Academy Exams Certification a plus Compensation – $18 – $21/hour depending on experience
