We are looking for a skilled and experienced Lead Security and Alarm Technician to join our team and lead our technical services department.
Position Overview:
The Lead Security and Alarm Technician will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems, including alarms, surveillance cameras, and access control systems. This role will also include providing leadership and technical guidance to junior technicians, ensuring that all projects are completed efficiently and meet company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security systems (alarm systems, surveillance cameras, access control systems). Diagnose and resolve technical issues with systems, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruption. Perform routine service and preventative maintenance on security systems to ensure optimal functionality. Provide on-site supervision and guidance to junior technicians, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. Communicate with clients to assess their needs, provide system recommendations, and explain system operation and features. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with security devices such as motion detectors, alarms, and cameras. Ensure all systems are functioning according to industry standards and in compliance with local regulations. Maintain accurate documentation of all service and installation activities. Assist with training and development of new technicians and staff. Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment necessary for service calls and installations. Provide on-call support as needed for emergency service requests.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required). A degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field is a plus. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the security and alarm systems industry, including hands-on installation and troubleshooting experience. Proven leadership experience with the ability to supervise and mentor a team of technicians. Strong knowledge of security systems including burglar alarms, CCTV cameras, access control systems, and fire alarms. In-depth knowledge of wiring, electrical systems, and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients in a clear and understandable manner. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license. Certification in security systems (e.g., NICET, SSA) or the willingness to obtain certifications is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in various environments, including climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and outdoor installations in various weather conditions. Ability to work on-call for emergency situations, including nights and weekends if needed.
