Description
Weyerhaeuser in Magnolia, MS is seeking a Fire System Tech. This position is responsible for the reliability of Mill fire protection systems through proper Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) ensuring safety for our team members and assets.
Rate of pay is $26.10
Key Functions:
Fire System Owners shall be responsible for mill level Inspection, Testing and Maintenance (ITM) of fire protection systems and shall include but not limited to:
Familiarity with Section A-1 “Fire Inspection & Maintenance programs” of the Weyerhaeuser Fire Protection Standards and Procedures Manual
Performing ITM work on all sprinkler related systems including the fire protection water supply (ponds, water supply storage tanks, etc.), fire pumps, underground piping, above ground piping, valves, sprinklers, etc.
Note:
Designated Owners for certain equipment (i.e. baghouses, silos, planers, presses, etc.) may perform fire system ITMs on such equipment but the Fire System Owner shall have knowledge of such work
ITM work on:
Performing all fire system valve inspections on required frequencies (weekly, monthly, annual, etc.)
Performing monthly fire extinguisher inspections
- Conducting ITM work fire hose and associated equipment
- Performing ITM work on all Spark Detection Systems
- Performing ITM work on mobile equipment fire suppression systems and fire extinguisher
- Entering work notifications into SAP on needed inspections and/or repairs to the Fire Protection Systems
Fire System Impairments:
Familiarity with the FM Red Tag Process and used for all impairments, regardless of duration.
Communicating all impairments to site leadership
Assuring impairments are restored promptly.
Accompanying FM during semi-annual fire inspections
Assuring the FM Site sketch is accurate and updated when needed.
Assuring FM ITM recommendations are completed in a timely manner.
Participating in Fire/Explosion incident investigations as appropriate
Completing hands-on training (i.e., TSB at Rome GA) and online training (see attachment)
- Or complete knowledge there of if performed by other team members or contracted out
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of skilled trades experience (maintenance, etc.
)
Passion for fire safety and continuous improvement
Familiarity with fire protection systems (extinguishers, fire hose, sprinklers, etc.) Systems
Ability to utilize SAP to enter work notifications, complete work orders, look up parts.
