Fire Protection Specialist 2 Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Division of – 3.8 Town of Chili, NY Job Details Full-time $86,681 – $109,650 a year 22 hours ago Qualifications Mid-level Driver’s License 1 year Full Job Description The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Under the direction of the Fire Protection Specialist 3, the incumbent will support the activities of the Technical Rescue Branch within the Office of Fire Prevention and Control. The incumbent will supervise the daily activities of assigned staff in the Technical Rescue Branch (TRB). Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Direct the planning, development, and delivery of firefighting, technical rescue, and other fire and safety related training programs.
- Assist local fire departments to identify outside experts in highly technical training programs and arranges for training materials, accommodations, and expenses.
- Assists with monthly and quarterly reports as needed.
- Perform supervisory functions to ensure proper staffing levels and finances are available to support programs.
- Respond and direct staff to respond to emergency incidents as needed. Provide technical assistance to local fire officials as requested.
- May represent the State Fire Administrator at meetings with local officials and at national, state, and local seminars, conferences, and workshops.
- Assigns work, evaluates work performance, counsels’ staff, approves time off, trains staff, and participates in the interview and selection process.
- Performs other duties and special projects as required.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle.
- Significant travel required, approximately 60%, often overnight in assigned geographic location us required.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Applicants may be appointed if they are a current New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services employee with one year or more permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Fire Protection Specialist 2 and are interested in reassignment.
