ROLE DESCRIPTION
Simon Security is seeking a full-time or part-time on-site Security System Technician to work out of our office in Montrose, NY. The technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic security systems, including IP network surveillance, intrusion alarms, fire alarms and access control systems at client sites. Candidates should demonstrate strong proficiency and or the willingness to learn in all core responsibilities of the role, and must have the ability to work independently. The Security System Technician will regularly collaborate with the Scheduling Coordinator, Service Coordinators, and Project Managers, and must consistently deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality results.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and install appropriate cable pathway, support, and concealment components Effectively troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and or replace all types of security systems Maintain detailed and accurate as-built drawings and completion notes Install fire alarms, burglar alarms, access control, intrusion, and video surveillance systems Install, assemble, program, aim, and focus indoor and outdoor cameras Install a wide variety of cable pathway/support systems and components Install, terminate, label, and test a wide variety of low-voltage cabling Assemble and mount a wide variety of equipment racks, cabinets, and panels Install proper grounding equipment and wiring Complete all assigned tasks within the specified cost budget and schedule Effectively communicate with the Project Managers, Scheduling Coordinator and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and administrative processes Perform other related duties as required or assigned
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate (minimum) Must be comfortable working from heights Ability to follow directions and execute specific tasks as assigned Authorized to work in the U.S. Must have a clean, valid driver’s license with dependable transportation Must pass a pre-employment drug screening; Simon Security is a drug-free workplace Professional and presentable appearance required Willingness to work night shifts, weekends and overtime as needed Occasional travel may be required for certain projects
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining electronic security systems Strong understanding of fire alarm and security systems and practical field experience Technical or trade school graduate Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, and OSHA codes and standards Proficient at using a multimeter for circuit testing and troubleshooting
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl Regularly involves reaching, extending, and stretching with arms and hands Requires fine motor skills and tactile sensitivity for handling tools and equipment Regularly lift and/or push/pull objects up to 25 pounds Frequently lift and/or push/pull objects up to 50 pounds Ability to lift and climb extension ladders Must be able to hear, comprehend, and respond to verbal instructions and sounds in the work environment Vision abilities required include color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Ability to operate a motor vehicle or other construction equipment including scissor lifts and booms
