Job Summary:
A Fire Suppression Apprentice will assist in the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire suppression systems in various facilities. The primary role will be to support the team in ensuring the reliability, functionality, and compliance of fire suppression systems, including but not limited to, kitchen hood suppression systems, CO2 suppression systems, and clean agent systems. You will learn to complete all tasks according to applicable codes and standards, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in conducting inspections and tests on fire suppression systems, including kitchen hood suppression systems, CO2 suppression systems, and clean agent systems, following the guidance of
NFPA 17, NFPA
96, and other applicable codes and standards. Support routine maintenance activities on fire suppression system components, such as cylinders, nozzles, release mechanisms, and control panels, under supervision and in accordance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications. Help test and recharge agent cylinders, ensuring they are properly pressurized and filled with the appropriate extinguishing agent under guidance Assist in identifying and troubleshooting issues with fire suppression systems, such as leaks, pressure problems, or malfunctioning components, and learn to implement corrective actions as per NFPA requirements. Support the repair and replacement of fire suppression system components, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications. Coordinate with senior technicians to schedule service visits and communicate recommendations for system improvements or upgrades based on NFPA requirements. Help inspect and maintain gas cylinders, including hydrostatic testing, refilling, and reinstallation, under supervision and following NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications. Assist in responding promptly to service calls and emergency requests, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions to restore system functionality. Document all service activities accurately and thoroughly, including inspection reports, work orders, parts usage, and customer notes, using the Service Trade operations platform. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines, protocols, and procedures.. Pass the milestones, training classes and testing during first 2 years- pay will increase when each milestone is reached Other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent Basic knowledge and use of hand and power tools, pipe threading machines, and other equipment used in fire sprinkler installation Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to client sites as needed. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc. Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
