We are seeking a skilled Access Control Technician for a position in Memphis, TN. The Access Control Technician will assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control systems, including card readers, door strikes, maglocks, and control panels. This role involves low voltage cable termination, installation of security components, and system testing. The technician will work under the supervision of senior technicians, following company protocols and industry standards to ensure all installations are safe, functional, and meet project specifications for low voltage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the installation of access control devices, including card readers, keypads, door strikes, maglocks, and control panels for low voltage security systems. Run, pull, and terminate low voltage cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, and power cables) for access control systems and components. Mount and install access control system components such as power supplies, control panels, and other related devices. Perform basic system checks and testing to ensure proper functionality, network connectivity, and signal flow for low voltage access control systems. Assist with the installation and configuration of access control software and systems under supervision. Follow safety standards and adhere to local and national building codes during all low voltage installations. Provide basic troubleshooting support for access control systems and assist senior technicians in diagnosing and resolving system issues. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and ready for use on low voltage projects. Complete necessary documentation for all work completed, including system configurations, installation reports, and test results.
Requirements:
Basic understanding of access control systems, including card readers, door strikes, maglocks, and control panels. Familiarity with low voltage cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, power cables) and basic electrical work related to low voltage installations. Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and technical documents for low voltage access control systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions for precise low voltage system installations. Willingness to learn and grow in the access control field with hands-on training and experience in low voltage security systems. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and assist senior technicians with the installation of low voltage security systems. Strong work ethic, commitment to safety, and quality of installations. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for traveling to commercial and residential installation sites. Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting equipment, working on ladders, and performing installation tasks in varied environments.
