A leading manufacturer of specialty vehicles for the fire & emergency, and recreation has an immediate need for an Automotive Buffer. This position will perform paint prep and body work functions to prepare emergency vehicles for its final paint job, prepare vehicles for paint by sanding, light body work, taping, and chemically washing items to achieve a quality painting surface, and buff/polish to obtain an acceptable quality of the finished product.

What’s the Job?
Inspect refinished body panels for proper color match and acceptable finish texture, bringing any quality issues to management’s attention immediately
Inspect remaining (not repaired/refinished) vehicle surfaces for overspray and remove as needed
Prepare surface for buffing utilizing proper finish sanding products and technique
Remove and clean all compound or polish residue from buffed panels completely and inspect for acceptable finish quality
Restore refinish panel(s) to OEM quality utilizing provided rotary buffer, correct buffing technique, compounds and polishes defined in SOP
Close attention-to-detail
What’s Needed?
HS Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices.
Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Fundamental use of various pneumatic and power tools.
Familiar with the safe operation of various tools: including but not limited to drills, screw gun.
Ability to use basic mathematics.
