Auto Body Technician Position Available In Berkshire, Massachusetts

JOB SUMMARY

Auto Body Technician is responsible for preparing thevehicles and parts for final paint and the preparation and finishing ofthe vehicles and parts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Prepare surface forpainting using body filler, Dual Action (DA) and a variety of pneumaticgrinders
• Grind, file and sand surfaces of vehicle and parts
• Examineand feel all surfaces of metal to detect defects
• Apply undercoats andfinish coats using the full range of application methods and materials
• Mix and match paints and finishes
• Use various methods to preparesurface for painting
• Mask surfaces with tape and paper
• Operate,clean, and maintain all necessary equipment
• Liaise with supervisor onproblems to achieve efficient repair
• Maintain a clean and tidy workarea
• Complete all documentation including inspection sheets
• Identifyabnormalities and repairs required as result of internal actions andadvise the supervisor accordingly
• Identify areas of processimprovement, cost and waste reduction
• Work in an efficient and timelymanner
• Undertake relevant training and development as required
• Carryout work orders within a realistic time line ensuring that deadlines aremet
• Maintain cooperative working relationships, and demonstratesensitivity to and respect for a diverse population
• Record all hoursworked accurately

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Safely store and labelmaterials
• Perform routine maintenance on paint booths, guns and guncleaner
• Adhere to and carry out existing work practices, proceduresand policies
• Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection andassociated guidelines where appropriate
• Understand and comply withsafety and environmental policies
• Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in automotivepainting

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
