Fleet Maintenance Job Statement Performs a variety of test and repair work on vehicles, electronic. engines (gas and diesel), automotive equipment, air compressors, backhoes, hydraulics, trailers, and other items in the fleet. Essential Duties Diagnose and repair electrical problems using diagnostic computers to recognize components needing adjustments or repairs. Performs scheduled/preventative maintenance according to manufacturer’s instructions on a full range of equipment including cars, trucks, backhoes, trenchers, aerial units, digger derricks, trailers, forklifts, cranes, small engines, and other related items. Performs unscheduled repairs on transmissions, differentials, other power train elements, brakes, hydraulic, mechanical and air. Makes body repairs, welding, and fabricating. Assist Crew Leader or Fleet Specialist when workflow permits. Performs minor road calls and minor emergency repairs. Keep working area, test equipment and maintenance equipment in a neat, clean, and operating condition. Follow manufacturer instruction manuals, diagrams, and illustrations to perform maintenance and repairs. Learn and practice company rules and policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Training courses in diesel engine, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, transmission, air conditioner and computer skills preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of one year working in related field required. Two years of an Accredited Technical school focusing on automotive work will be accepted in lieu of the experience requirement.
Equipment:
Hand tools, electric and hydraulic tools, test equipment, computer test equipment, welding equipment.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work in various climate and weather conditions. Requires extensive manual dexterity, moderate lifting up to 75 lbs. and must be able to climb heights (over 50 feet) and work in a bucket truck as necessary.
Other:
Must have valid driver’s license. Must be able to perform on call, night, and weekend work. Must be able to work first or second shift. Must possess a valid CDL A or be legally eligible to obtain a CDL A by 6-month evaluation or 6 months after turning legal age, provided classes are available. This position is considered a safety sensitive position. All employees in safety sensitive positions are subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
