Department:
The Fleet Management Division’s goal is to furnish City departments with properly equipped and well-maintained vehicles and equipment. The responsibilities of the division include the purchase, fueling, repair and maintenance of City-owned vehicles and equipment, including automated garbage trucks, emergency response vehicles and equipment used for construction and landscaping.
Fleet Service Writer Position Overview:
This is technical and administrative work initiating vehicle and equipment services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services; writing repair orders; coordinating services; maintaining customer rapport and records. Work involves discussing with the operator to determine vehicle problems and services needed, clarifying description of problems, conducting inspections, checking vehicle maintenance records, examining service schedules, and conferring with mechanics.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency; experience with computers and general office equipment desirable.
