POSITION REQUIREMENTS
:
- High school diploma or GED
- Need a person with mechanical ability and skills to maintain and repair the AIDB motor vehicle fleet.
- Must insure the safe operation of the AIDB fleet, which includes school buses, automobiles, pick-up trucks, vans, medium duty trucks, tractors, and lawn equipment.
Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License upon employment. Must obtain Alabama Commercial Driver Learner License (written test) within six months, and obtain Alabama School Bus Driver’s Certification (CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement) within the first twelve (12) months of employment. Must have a clean driving record and be insurable under the AIDB fleet policy. Must hold or obtain Alabama School Bus mechanic’s certification within twelve (12) months. Must have an Automotive Service Excellence Certification (ASE), or Automotive Manufacturers training and certification, or minimum five (5) years of experience working on School Buses, or work trucks.
- Must have or obtain an Air Conditioning Certification within the first twelve (12) months of employment. Preference may be given for those who have air conditioning certification.
- Must be able to work without direct supervision.
- ASL proficiency of Survival according to SCPI assessment must be obtained within the first 36 months of employment.
- Upon being offered employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Schedule, perform, and record preventive maintenance on the vehicle fleet as prescribed.
- Inspect and maintain monthly records on school buses.
- Alert the supervisor of problems.
- School buses MUST pass annual state inspection.
- Repair and maintain fleet vehicles as needed.
- Be available after hours as needed to assist with breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct or repair problems as needed.
- Fuel and check motor pool buses and automobiles daily as needed.
- Maintain a clean shop area.
- Assist with training school bus drivers.
- Maintain parts and supply inventory as needed.
- Wash and clean pool vehicles as needed.
- Treat students and staff with respect in their transportation needs.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Dispose of hazardous materials in a safe and lawful manner.
- Order parts as needed.
- Attend training schools and workshops when made available.
- Maintain tractors and lawn implement/equipment.
- Maintain fuel and oil inventory.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
- Abide by all AIDB rules and policies.
- Work flexible hours as needed.
SALARY :
$24.81 – $29.88 Scale C5 Rank 50 260 days) This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act Direct deposit is required.
