SUMMARY Under the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Manager and Fleet Maintenance Technician, the Assistant Fleet Maintenance Technician supports maintenance operations by assisting with vehicle and equipment servicing, conducting basic repairs, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop. This is a developmental role intended to build foundational skills in fleet and equipment maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with routine maintenance and minor repairs on fleet vehicles and ground service equipment. Performs shop upkeep including cleaning, organizing tools and parts, and maintaining supply inventory. Supports the implementation of the preventative maintenance program by helping schedule service checks and logging activity. Assists with basic inspections, such as fluid level checks, tire pressure, and battery testing. Tracks inventory usage and helps record fuel, parts, and supply usage under direction. Follows all safety practices and procedures and attends required safety training. May help transport vehicles and equipment for servicing as directed. Assists with tool organization and cleanliness of workstations and the maintenance facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED required. Entry-level mechanical aptitude preferred. Must obtain an ASE Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Certification (G1) within 12 months of hire and maintain it throughout employment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior maintenance staff. Understanding of mechanical systems or desire to gain experience in fleet/equipment maintenance. Ability to safely use hand tools and operate equipment under supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety. Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

May require 24-hour/7-day on-call availability. Must be capable of working in all weather conditions, including extreme heat. Must be able to lift 70 pounds, push, pull, climb, and walk or stand for extended periods. Good visual acuity to work indoors and outdoors in various lighting conditions.
