BR Job Description Job Summary and Accountabilities:

Performs a wide range of services to diagnose and repair Districtfleet units including cars, trucks, diesel engines, and small andheavy equipment. May give technical guidance and assistance. Other Duties as Assigned. •All tools required to perform repairs on District fleet units areprovided by the agency. This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcoholtesting. Work hours are Monday – Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Employment Guidelines (May be filled as Fleet Mechanic)

Fleet Technician:

High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years ofexperience in servicing, diagnosing, and repairing cars, trucks,diesel engines, and equipment. Equivalent combination of relevanteducation and experience may be substituted as appropriate. The hiring range for this position is $54,620.80 to $63,086.40(based on education and years of relevant work experience). Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)without restriction to operate vehicle equipped with airbrakes andmanual transmission. If selected candidate does not currentlypossess CDL, the District will provide 90 days from date of hire toobtain CDL Learner’s Permit and will provide 6 months from date ofhire to obtain CDL. District is willing to pay cost of CDL trainingprogram.

Fleet Mechanic:

High School Diploma or GED and 2 + years ofexperience in servicing, diagnosing and repairing cars, trucks,diesel engines, and equipment. Or specialized trainingcertifications or degrees in automotive and construction equipmenttechnologies. Equivalent combination of relevant education andexperience may be substituted as appropriate. The hiring range for this position is $49,400.00 to $57,241.60(based on education and years of relevant work experience). Valid Florida Driver’s License (Class E). Must obtain a valid Stateof Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) withoutrestriction to operate vehicle equipped with airbrakes and manualtransmission within two years from date of hire. District iswilling to pay cost of CDL training program.

Certifications:
Fleet Technician:

Must maintain a total of four (4) valid ASEcertifications between the three specialties listed below.

Fleet Mechanic:

Will have 2 years from date of hire to obtain ASEcertifications between the three specialties listed below.

Automotive:

engine repair, automatic transmission/ transaxle,manual drive train and axle, suspension and steering, brakes,electrical/ electronic system, heating and air conditioning, engineperformance.

Medium/Heavy Truck:

gasoline engine, diesel engine, drive train,brakes, suspension and steering, electrical/ electronic system,heating and air conditioning, preventative maintenanceinspection. Auto Maintenance and Light Repair

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Typically has High School Diploma or GED (Required) and 4+ years’experience servicing, diagnosing, and repairing cars, trucks,diesel engines, and equipment (Required)

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Forklift Operations Certification (Required) First Aid/CPR/AED (Required) Based on business needs, either a valid State of Florida Class A orB Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) without restriction to operatevehicles equipped with a manual transmission and air brakes, or theability to obtain a CDL Learner’s Permit within 2 months and/or CDLLicense within 6 months from date of hire or placement in the job.(Required) Maintain a total of 4 valid ASE certifications between thefollowing 3 specialties:

Automotive:

eng repair, automatictransmission/transaxle, manual drive train & axle, suspension &steering, brakes, electrical/electronic system, heating & airconditioning, eng performance.

Medium/Heavy Truck:

gasoline eng,diesel eng, drive train, brakes, suspension & steering,electrical/electronic system, heating & air conditioning,preventative maintenance inspection; and Auto Maintenance & LightRepair. (Required) This position is required to participate in the Pumping OperationsProgram as either a Pump Station Assistant (PSA) or a Pump StationOperator (PSO). (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Due to the District’s response role and in the total scope ofemergency management, this position may at times, be required toprovide support before, during and after major storm events andemergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declaredemergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.

Extensive Exertion plus travel: Regularly sets up, adjusts,controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments.

Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves orotherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.•Balancing, Climbing, Drive/operate equipment, Exposure to carbonmonoxide and dust, materials, and waste(oils/grease/coolants/solvents). Eye-hand-foot coordination, GrossBody Coordination, Hearing, Kneeling, Lifting, reaching overhead,Manual dexterity, Move/transport equipment, Near vision, Noiseexposure, Peripheral vision, Pulling, Pushing, Recognize colordifferences. Squatting, Stability, Standing Steady footing, Upperbody vibration, Bending.
