Body Repair Technician (Fleet Services) DeKalb County School District of Georgia 1780 Montreal Road, Tucker, GA 30084 Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Body Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with the ability to fabricate and perform auto body repairs. Perform basic skilled tasks to maintain, repair, and overhaul a variety of vehicles and buses, working under moderate supervision to perform technical or skilled trade tasks. This role requires performing duties under moderate supervision as an intermediate-level individual contributor.
Essential Functions:
Complete routine and sometimes more robust tasks as assigned in a timely manner. Perform various automotive, equipment, trailer, and school bus collision damage repairs, examining and assessing body damage to determine the extent of necessary repairs. Provide own service technician’s tool chest and other body repair industry hand tools as needed while assuming responsibility for DeKalb County School District (DCSD) equipment, tools, and materials issued for work on motor vehicles and trailers. Create and accurately calculate estimates for repairs on various equipment buses and vehicles as required. Perform light to intermediate sheet metal fabrication and welding of equipment; maintain accountability for all special tools, parts, supplies, and equipment issued. File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools; perform highly efficient technical painting processes utilizing automotive-grade paint materials. Adjust and align mechanical components on auto glass doors, hoods, and bodies, ensuring proper function post-repair. Prepare accurately complete paperwork for all repairs, including recording tracking duties, tasks, and time using a computerized work order system. Follow established standard operating procedures and systems to accomplish tasks. Perform additional duties as assigned. Experience High School Diploma with some additional continuing education through a certification program with a minimum of three (3) years of closely related experience is required. An Associate degree is preferred. ASE certification in school bus maintenance or collision repair is preferred.
