In this position… The Prototype Vehicle Technician is a critical hands-on role responsible for the assembly, modification, maintenance, and repair of prototype vehicles and related systems. What you’ll do… Assemble prototype vehicles and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions. Modify and repair existing prototype vehicles to incorporate design changes and improvements. Perform diagnostic testing on vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) to identify and resolve issues. Fabricate and install custom parts and components as needed. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including modifications, repairs, and test results. Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Participate in vehicle testing and data collection activities. Assist in the development of assembly and repair procedures. Manage inventory of parts and materials. You’ll have… High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably with experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills. Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and fabrication equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.). Basic computer skills, Diagnostic Vehicle Tools, CAN Software etc. Even better, you may have… Associate’s degree or technical certification in automotive technology Experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
