What You’ll Do:
Test, service, and repair trailers and related mechanical components. Acts as lead technician over other Trailer Techs. Ensure all technicians under his/her lead are working effectively, efficiently, and safely. Perform basic or routine preventative maintenance (PM’s) on tractors and trailers as outlined in TTMS procedures.
Check vehicle fluids:
transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc. Perform in-depth diagnostics and repairs to brakes, suspension, air system, lighting system, suspension, and all body panels, etc.; independently analyzes and safely resolves mechanical problems. Act as a mentor and point of contact for Trailer Techs I, II and III. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in a timely fashion. Job may require repairs and diagnostics on starting and charging system, complex cooling, and re-charge, and electrical including common fault codes. Repairs include performing leak detection procedures, compressor replacements, rebuilding throttling valves, soldering refrigerant lines, evaporator/condenser replacements and front main engine seal replacements. Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs. Pull trailers in and out of shop using yard jockey before and after repairs. Maintain a high productivity level to complete jobs within Standard Repair Times (SRT’s). Clean and maintain the work area daily. Other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience Minimum of 6 years in trailer/tractor repair required. A Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of the required experience. Skills/Certifications Meritor/Bendix and tandem assembly certification preferred. DOT and Brake Certifications required Valid driver’s license required Basic computer skills preferred Ability to read and write Must provide own hand tools adequate to perform job functions.
