The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for a Fleet Service Assistant Manager (Administrative Officer I) for our Motor Fleet Management division. This division is responsible for maintaining a State Fleet of passenger/cargo vehicles for purchasing, assigning, providing maintenance/repair, and monitoring and disposal of vehicles at the end of their life cycle. The division operates a fleet of 7,300 vehicles on a $37 million yearly budget. The division also monitors vehicle misuses, accidents, and vehicle preventive maintenance schedules using Fleet Best Practices and operates a Cabinet Member inventory of vehicle and trailer titles.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with examining and analyzing agency fleet service operations and systems to determine compliance with programmatic procedures and NC Motor Fleet Regulations. Responsible for all vehicle service for the Division and reports to the Motor Fleet Service Manager. Ensuring the periodic maintenance schedule of the fleet is maintained and tracked in the Holman fleet management system, addressing OEM recall issues, overseeing accident management in conjunction with Holman and Traveler’s Insurance. Work extensively in the Holman Fleet Management System and Holman Garage Module as well as other systems for telematics (GeoTab), insurance reporting (Traveler’s AutoWeb), and the internal Motor Fleet System for invoicing. Analyze service, inspection, and accident information and evaluate each agencies performance in managing their assigned vehicles. Conducts repair analysis on vehicles needing major repairs and make repair decisions in the best economic interest of the state. Reviewing vehicle repair through our online systems for repair approval, entering accident information into AutoWeb and communicating with drivers, agency fleet coordinators, repair shops, and fleet system reps to correct service issues. The Fleet Manager will decide when not to repair a vehicle as needed. Serve as backup to Parts department when needed. Division/ Department Overview The Department of Administration serves as the business manager for North Carolina state government and provides leadership to state government agencies for the effective, efficient, economical and equitable delivery of services to the public. The department also provides assistance and services to several advocacy programs that serve diverse segments of the state’s population that have traditionally been underserved. The agency’s mission directs departmental efforts to: acquire, develop and maintain properties and facilities; create and operate an efficient system to purchase and dispose of goods and services to meet the needs of government agencies; provide excellent operational services to state employees; achieve fair and equitable opportunities and representation for various segments of the population that have special needs; and to provide administrative support to independent state government agencies.
