The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Supervisor I for our Motor Fleet Management division. This division is responsible for maintaining a State Fleet of passenger/cargo vehicles for purchasing, assigning, providing maintenance/repair, and monitoring and disposal of vehicles at the end of their life cycle. The division operates a fleet of 7,300 vehicles on a $37 million yearly budget. The division also monitors vehicle misuses, accidents, and vehicle preventive maintenance schedules using Fleet Best Practices and operates a Cabinet Member inventory of vehicle and trailer titles.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of this position is to interface between the driver and the garage. Schedules appointments, initiates and tracks work orders using a Fleet Information System (GMS) and assigns the work to the correct vehicle repair technician, this can be for preventive maintenance, vehicle inspections, minor/major repairs and handling driver emergencies. Tracks the progress of the technician and repairs, then contact the drivers when the work is completed. Diagnosing vehicle issues when they hear from the drivers, reviewing mechanical repairs and road test vehicles when needed. Performs inventory of vehicles on garage lot on a weekly basis. Assists Fleet Assignment with the preparation of vehicles for disposal. Ensures accurate Mechanic work order times in garage management system. Perform Employees Performance Reviews of four technicians. Advises Garage manager of operational deficiencies. Assist drivers with any other issues, like getting a loaner car while their vehicle is in the shop. Assisting Garage Manager with projects as required. Division/ Department Overview The Department of Administration serves as the business manager for North Carolina state government and provides leadership to state government agencies for the effective, efficient, economical and equitable delivery of services to the public. The department also provides assistance and services to several advocacy programs that serve diverse segments of the state’s population that have traditionally been underserved. The agency’s mission directs departmental efforts to: acquire, develop and maintain properties and facilities; create and operate an efficient system to purchase and dispose of goods and services to meet the needs of government agencies; provide excellent operational services to state employees; achieve fair and equitable opportunities and representation for various segments of the population that have special needs; and to provide administrative support to independent state government agencies. Other Requirements:

Valid NC Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Out of State Applicants must have valid Driver’s License or acquire NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire. Candidate must present proof of a valid NC Driver’s License and proof of an acceptable driving record. Individual must obtain a Vehicle Safety Inspection License, if not already certified, within 6 months of employment.
