The State of New Hampshire, Fish and Game Department has a full-time vacancy for Auto Mechanic

SCOPE OF WORK

To perform technical work, maintaining, repairing and equipping motor vehicles, boats, snowmobiles and off highway recreation vehicles, to include small engine repair work and state inspections of vehicles. Maintain fleet database to include registration, inspection and surplus of vehicles and equipment. Maintain vendor contacts and coordinate outside motor vehicle repair work. Maintain parts inventory and supplies as needed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Repairs and maintains motor vehicles, boats, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles. Uses specialized equipment to include diagnostic scanner to diagnose and identify malfunctions. Estimates costs and mechanics time for repair work, coordinates body and paintwork for vehicles with outside repair shops.

Prepares and coordinates a preventive maintenance schedule and maintains service records for motor vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, and all- terrain vehicles; schedules repair work as needed. Maintains new vehicle warranty information and coordinates repairs with vendors facility if the warranty applies.

Installs police packages, including radios, transmitters, receivers, public address systems, sirens and lights.

Performs state vehicle inspections to meet state and federal standards.

Research and reviews automotive repair equipment and recommends acquisition of needed equipment to ensure proper functioning of motor vehicles, snowmobiles, boats and all-terrain vehicles.

Maintains parts inventory and oversees procurement of parts from outside suppliers.

Database management records of all fleet vehicles, to include vehicles, trailers, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc., registration, inspections, vehicle maintenance records and surplus of vehicles as necessary and required.

Provides technical assistance to determine correct specifications and/or special requirements prior to ordering of any new motorized equipment. Interprets technical manuals and equipment specifications to verify proper utilization and performance.
